The route and its purpose
From Lukla the trail follows the Dudh Koshi through Phakding and the Sagarmatha National Park entrance before climbing to Namche Bazaar. A well-paced version keeps a second night in Namche, using the day for a higher walk toward Khumjung or a nearby viewpoint before returning to sleep lower.
Unlike an Everest Base Camp itinerary, this trip is about time in the inhabited middle Khumbu. It can include Khumjung, Khunde and viewpoints above Namche without the repeated nights above 4,000 metres that define the upper route.
Difficulty is relative, not 'easy'
The maximum sleeping elevation is lower than on EBC, but the climb into Namche is still sustained and the route begins after a rapid flight to Lukla. Travelers should be ready for long stone stairways, exposed suspension bridges, pack-animal traffic, cold mornings and weather delays.
The site publishes a nine-day starting price of USD 980 per person. Ask whether that duration includes Kathmandu nights and flight buffer, and request a written inclusions and exclusions list before comparing it with another operator's quote.
Travel respectfully
Khumjung and Khunde are living communities, not themed attractions. Ask before photographing people, walk clockwise around mani walls and chortens, keep to the inside when pack animals pass, and follow local waste and water guidance.
