Giving Back

Trekking tourism has funded a lot of what exists in the Khumbu today — schools, clinics, trail maintenance. We see continuing that as part of running a trekking company here, not a separate charity project.

Where it goes

Trail and lodge infrastructure in the Khumbu has historically been funded in large part by trekking revenue, an approach with real precedent in this exact region going back to the Himalayan Trust's work in the 1960s. We support that same model in a small way through our operations, prioritizing local suppliers, teahouses and services over cheaper alternatives further from the trail.

Being straightforward about scale

We're a small operator, not a large NGO — our contribution is proportionate to that. We'd rather describe what we actually do plainly than overstate it.
