The classic viewpoints of the Khumbu, and where the photography on this site comes from.
Where to shoot
Kala Patthar at dawn is the single most photographed viewpoint on the trek — the only point on the standard route with a clear line to Everest's summit, best in the first hour of light before cloud typically builds. Gokyo Ri offers a wider panorama including Cho Oyu and Makalu alongside Everest; Tengboche gives the classic monastery-with-mountain-backdrop composition lower down the trail, without the altitude commitment of either summit viewpoint.
